One of the most wonderful things about living at the Langley Highlands and in the village of Langley is the ease and variety of walks! My 12 year old granddaughter goes to the Langley Middle School which is a short, lovely walk through the watershed from the Highlands. Her science class is working with the non-profit Whidbey Wateshed Stewards learning the mechanics and beauty of a watershed. A recent activity was walking from the beach up through the watershed to the source of our aquifer in the Highlands! Because the Highlands is in a watershed, it was developed with Low Impact Development and covenants to protect the aquifer and our Puget Sound waters. Perhaps you will enjoy taking a walk to or from the Highlands and enjoy the mature forest, wetlands and shore with a young or old friend in the new year!
